Linda Sherman
Linda Sherman is passionate about preventing family violence. Ms. Sherman is the founder and Executive Director of the Domestic Outreach Center. Through her work, Linda Sherman seeks to keep families together by teaching personal responsibility and accountability. A life-long resident of the Pittsburgh area, she is dedicated to reducing abuse in our community.

Prior to Ms. Sherman founding the Domestic Outreach Center in 2000, she was the supervisor of a Child Prevention program in Pittsburgh. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the Domestic Outreach Center is dedicated to minimizing the occurrence of violence in our community by teaching personal responsibility and accountably. Since it’s formation in 2000, the DOC has counseled over 1,000 domestic abusers, teaching them to be more responsible partners and parents. Where most domestic violence organizations assist victims, Ms. Sherman recognized a dangerous void in programs in the Pittsburgh Region. Abusers were often vilified and their problems ignored. Ms. Sherman realized that the most effective way to stop the cycle of violence was to work with abusers. The Domestic Outreach Center provides training and techniques necessary to control anger and put and end to abuse.

Beginning as a “one-woman army”, the Domestic Outreach Center has grown under Ms. Sherman’s guidance to an organization with eleven staff members and eight training centers throughout the Pittsburgh area. As an extremely active Executive Director, Linda Sherman remains involved in all aspects of Domestic Outreach Center Activities. She personally developed the DOC curriculum and compiled the workbook used in group sessions. In addition to her current administrative duties, Ms. Sherman continues to lead weekly group sessions. Ms. Sherman undertook graduate studies in education at California University of Pennsylvania with professional certification in educating the mentally and physically handicapped. She taught in the public school system for ten years before becoming involved in preventing domestic violence. Linda is was recently named an honored member of Cambridge Who's Who and will be included in the 2007/2008 edition of the Cambridge Who's Who Excutive and Professional Registry.

Linda Sherman is the mother of two grown children and a grandmother to two young grandsons..
